A serene hideaway nestled in the Itchen Valley, moments from the South Downs and Winchester

Hand built A-Frame Retreat

Island A-Frame

Hampshire, England, United Kingdom

4 guests
2 bedrooms
1 bathroom

Welcome to our hand built A-Frame cabin retreat. This is a traditional Airbnb in the garden of a large residential house. It’s ideal for those who appreciate low impact environmental design and the natural environment. The cabin is nestled in the chalk streams of the Itchen Valley with easy access to the South Downs Way and Winchester City Centre. Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway.

Good to know

Accommodating up to four guests, the cabin features two double bunk pods, these are accessed via a small hatch door on each level. The beds are very cozy and quirky, however we don't recommend this cabin for people with mobility issues. Adjacent to the main cabin, you'll find a separate outdoor kitchen next to the stream, fully equipped with: - BBQ and firepit - Wood-fired Pizza oven - Two ring hob - Sink - Fridge/freezer - All cooking equipment needed for 4 people If you love outdoor cooking this is the place for you!

Other Details to Note

The toilet is composting with separate solids and liquid. This means men have to sit to pee i’m afraid! Each room is accessed by a small hatch door so it’s only really suitable for those with good mobility.

Guest Access

You'll have full access to the cabin, river and outdoor kitchen spaces during your stay. Our house is opposite the cabin but its still very secluded (due to the trees in summer and blinds in winter). Access to the cabin is via a path around the side of our house. Parking space for one car.

Loved the cabin. A great base to explore Winchester The cabin itself is really well designed. You have to climb through a hole-in-wall to get into bed, but we enjoyed the quirkiness of the property. The surroundings are peaceful, waking up to the sound of birds was really special. The cabin is in the garden of a house where the hosts live, who are lovely people! The cabin has a little stream running in front of it and is round the corner from an outdoor kitchen you can use Everything was great
